At SplitAI (splitai.in), we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and web application, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: When you register with email and password or Google Sign-In, we store your name, email address and profile photo URL to create your profile.
- UPI details: We store the UPI ID you provide (for example, name@bank) to generate prefilled UPI QR codes for settlements. We never store bank account numbers, card numbers or UPI PINs.
- Expenses and groups: We store group names, members, expense titles, amounts, categories and split details to calculate balances.
- Technical data: Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers may process basic technical information such as your browser type, device and pages visited.
2. AI receipt scanning
When you upload a receipt photo, the image is processed in memory and sent to the Google Gemini API to extract the total amount, merchant and category. We do not store receipt images; they are discarded immediately after scanning. We block uploads of credit or debit card photos, bank statements and cheques to protect your financial information.
3. How we use information
- To provide the service: groups, balances, settlements and invites
- To secure accounts and prevent abuse
- To improve features and fix problems
- To show advertising that keeps SplitAI free
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to show advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

5. Service providers
We use trusted providers to run SplitAI, including Firebase (Google) for authentication and data storage, Google Gemini for receipt scanning, and hosting providers for the website and API. They process data only to provide their services to us.
6. Data security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including Firebase Authentication and encrypted connections. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can update your name and UPI ID from your profile at any time.
- You can request a copy or deletion of your account data by emailing us from your registered email address.
8. Children
SplitAI is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
